I had a unique opportunity to tour a WWII B-17 Flying Fortress bomber plane yesterday, and might I say I had a smile on my face the entire time. Although the Herald didn't let me go up on the media flight, I did get special access to the runway, or taxiway at the airport to photograph the plane taking off and landing. At one point when the plane was rolling back to the flight museum, its left wing passed right over my head! After talking with a few aviation enthusiasts, I found out how special my access was. The B-17 will be at the Heritage Flight Museum until Monday, July 9, and admission is free, so check it out while you still can! Check out the story here and my gallery here.
