Autumn’s continuous long shadows were a subtle hint the seasons were changing. Some days the clouds blanked the sky reminding me of my former home, the Northwest. I covered my second Notre Dame football game, this time with with big glass, which made for a better experience. The saturated oranges, reds and yellows pulled me outside to ride cyclocross, something I’ve been looking to do for years. While most of my pictures happened within the field of play, I started to step outside my normal post-work self to explore Michiana’s beautiful autumn on bicycle. It was a month of settling in, getting a sense of familiarity with my new home and using Google Maps less often. This month’s lesson: Learning to accept that I can't cover every high school playoff game fully.
