Jackson Citizen Patriot | July 2015

I will remember July by two assignments: One of them being the first photo in this post and the other was a weekend assignment covering a hot air balloon festival. A new cab company was formed in Jackson called "Name Your Fare," which operates just as the name suggest. I spent about two hours with one driver and saw him pick two sets of passengers. The latter one is presented below. It was really an economics story masking itself as a business profile. It'll be interesting watching this company grow and the impact it'll have on the community. The Hot Air Jubilee is one of Jackson's largest summer events. It's a three-day festival surrounding hot air balloons with daily launches.

Tatum Brown, 2, kisses his father David Brown goodbye as he goes to work at Josie's Party Store on Thursday, July 23, 2015, in Jackson, Mich. Name Your Fare driver Matt Wilcox, left, took Tatum and his mother Jessica to the movies afterward. David said his family doesn't have a car and often uses Name Your Fare to get to work. "They really help us out a lot," he said. Name Your Fare is a transportation company offering rides to Jackson costumers at a rate of their choosing.
